Reclaimed Gallery Power Plants

This Power Plant in Moscow Will Be Transformed into an Arts Center

A largescale power station in Moscow will soon reopen as a reclaimed gallery. The plan is to transform the 150 meter by 150 space into a contemporary arts and culture center.

The site used to provide power for the city, but the now vacant lot will be reconfigured to house a reclaimed gallery, yet keep the industrial charm of its previous inhabitant. The new center will be divided up into three sections: welcoming, exhibition and education areas. The welcome area will include a sculptural garden, trees and a piazza in addition to bookstores, a library and a cafe. The exhibition center will consist of mainly galleries and the the education section will offer art-focused summer classes and workshops. An amphitheater for movies will also be added, which will double as event space.
