Parachute-Like Roofing

The La Piscucha House by Cincopatasalgato Has a Distinct Top

The La Piscucha House looks modern, yet straightforward when observing the main section of the abode, but the roof is what really elevates the structure into something extremely distinct.

The house is located in San Salvador, with views of the surrounding mountains and ocean. Because of the beauty of this location, the owners did not want to have anything obstructing these views, but were looking for something that would stand out. As such, the roof has a canopy-like aesthetic, and almost appears as a parachute from some angles. According to The Contemporist, "the roof was designed to give the house a “ready to fly” sensation." With the way that the top was executed, it's easy to see where the architects were coming from.
