This Three-Level Outdoor Skatepark is the First of Its Kind

British architect Guy Hollaway designed the very first multi-level, outdoor skatepark in Folkestone, England. The idea is to encourage physical activity among teenagers and children. The park is designed for skateboarders and BMX bike riders. There will also be a boxing ring in the basement of the concrete structure.

Folkstone has become a popular town for arts festivals that draw in artists and designers to increase the use of public spaces. The outdoor skatepark will reside in place of an old bingo hall.

The outdoor skatepark idea was created by billionaire Roger De Hann who currently owns the property where the town's old skatepark sits. He hopes the new one-of-a-kind sports center will increase youth involvement in the community. The ultimate goal is to create meaningful childhood experiences through education, sport and recreation in order to maintain love for the town of Folkstone.
