Impossible Foods, Beyond Meat and Don Lee Farms are just some of the brands that have launched entirely plant-based burgers that "bleed" beet juice—now, Danish manufacturer Naturli’ Foods is launching a unique new option of its own.
The Naturli’ Foods mock meat also boasts beetroots, but its beef-like grounds boast an unconventional ingredient list of almonds, tomatoes and porcini mushrooms—as such, the vegan burger patty is rich with umami flavors and a meat-like texture.
While offering novel options to vegan and vegetarian consumers, a number of brands are creating hyperrealistic mock meat products that appeal to those who are still eating meat, or may be swayed to make the switch to a plant-based lifestyle based on ethics over their desire to eat meat. As Naturli’ Foods puts it: "We’ve developed this product assuming that many people want to eat plants instead of animals, but are afraid of compromising on flavor and maybe even missing out on their favorite dishes such as lasagne or burger patties."
