Monster Manor is a mobile game, launched by Sanofi Diabetes, that is designed to encourage children with Type 1 diabetes to keep tabs on their blodo glucose levels.
The game was developed as part of a collaboration with Vancouver-based Ayog, and rewards children with Type 1 diabetes for checking their blood glucose regularly. The game consists of different levels that add up, enabling players to unlock special characters and features. The results of the game are sent automatically to the smartphones of parents, who can give rewards to the children directly through the game.
Monster Manor has proven to be a fun game for children, however the fun aspect is only the means to an end, which is of course improved health. With young children forced to take on responsibility for testing and logging their blood glucose levels, this game is the kind of initiative that's needed to help children stay on top of their treatment.
