Ultra-Modern Firefighter Stations

Studio Gang Completes a Red-Accented Modern Firefighter Station

A rectangular modern firefighter station has been erected for the New York City Fire Department by American architecture firm Studio Gang. Located in Brownsville, Brooklyn, this facility caters to the borough's elite force. The building, which is beautiful on the outside, houses "simulation and training facilities for extreme rescue situations" and serves as headquarters for the elite unit.

Indoors, the modern firefighter station is organized around a volume that is three stories tall. The breathing space definitely contributes functionality of the training and simulation exercises—"the void enables the team to practice rescue scenarios that mimic conditions common to the city, using its height and associated elements of balconies, bridge, doorways, ladders, and stairs," as Studio Gang has specified to Dezeen.
