Following the devastating aftermath of America's most recent hurricane season, one startup named Arkup is aiming to build a series of designer "livable yachts” that can withstand category four winds.
The luxurious floating homes are equipped with a gorgeous interior that features a wide assortment of amenities, like built-in bookshelves, hardwood flooring, and floor-to-ceiling windows. In addition to the interior, these vacation homes offer safety and protection in the event of a natural disaster, through the protective design, which incorporates solar paneling on the roof and "hydraulic jack-up systems anchor and stabilize the homes during storms."
The homes were built in collaboration with the design firm 'Olthuis,' a company which believes that floating homes pose as a valuable alternative in the face of climate change.
