Sustainable Floating Cork Homes

Studio RAP Designs the Float Home Made from Cork and Timber

Studio RAP designs The Float, which is a floating home that is constructed with sustainable materials and processes. It is made mostly from a blend of cork and timber materials with interiors that deliver zen energy. It is essentially made up of a series of smaller modules that are complete with more panels that rest between then to create three-dimensional corrugated walls.

The studio states, "Our client asked us to design an innovative and sustainable floating home along the picturesque canals in the historical city of Leiden (NL). Our design for the main mass is based on the idea that the house could be a series of atmospheres representing functions of living that at the same time avoid a single floating container appearance."
