Sophisticated Laser Weapons

The Laser Weapons System Can Destroy and Disable Targets

If you thought laser weapons were the domain of video games and sci-fi movies only, think again -- the US Navy has completed the successful testing and deployment of a Laser Weapon System. While this doesn't represent the first time a laser weapon has been used, it is the first laser weapon to be used on a naval vessel and is far more advanced than previously developed laser weapons.

The Laser Weapon System is capable of taking out small boats, unmanned aerial vehicles and other targets that adopt complicated trajectories and paths. It comes with a variety of bells and whistles, including the ability to shock and dazzle targets and sensors without destroying them and being able to disable or destroy targets.

Aside from the obvious advantage of being able to attack targets at the speed of light, it also doesn't require ammunition and so can operate as long as there is power available.
