'La Placita' is an open-air pop-up market in downtown Cleveland that highlights the city's rich Latin culture. The market is part of 'La Villa Hispana,' an ongoing community redevelopment project for the Hispanic population in Cleveland. The Latin-themed market opened in mid-May and ran through the summer in the US Bank parking lot.
There were a wide range of small businesses, vendors, and cultural displays present at La Placita. The market featured live entertainment such as music and dancing, traditional food experiences, artisan vendors selling traditional Latin products, and site-specific education kiosks such as the 'Community Corner' and the 'Wellness Pavilion.'
La Placita was a pop-up market, but its organizers hope to evolve it into a permanent indoor operation that houses micro-retail businesses.
