Boozy Graphic Novels

The Spirit of Bacardi Historic Graphic Novel Illustrates the Brand's Origins

The Spirit of Bacardi is a historic graphic novel that was put out by the rum brand to celebrate its Cuban roots. For the development of the comic, Bacardi consulted legends like Warren Ellis, who is known for Hellstorm, Gen, RED and RED 2, as well as Michael Allred, who is known for illustrating many Marvel and DC comic book characters.

Although the name Bacardi is fairly well known, not very many people know that the brand has a history that dates way back to 1862. The Spirit of Bacardi puts a focus on this, taking readers back to the time of Emilio Bacardi in the 19th century as he is arrested and imprisoned before becoming the mayor of Santiago de Cuba, in addition to a few other adventures before the Cuba Libre cocktail was first invented in 1900.
