McDonald's proudly celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Big Mac via posters, themed t-shirts, watches, Coca-Cola cans, and now the fast-food chain launches a futuristic commercial that is temporally set in the year 2068. Conceived with the help of TBWA Spain, the narrative follows a protagonist who interacts with highly advanced technology — from LED wrist screens and phonecall-receiving eyewear lenses to hovering umbrellas and hologram alarm clocks. Because of its masterful construction, the futuristic commercial can easily be mistaken for a Black Mirror episode.
With this celebratory initiative, McDonald's envisions what the world will be like when the Big Mac turns 100. In the midst of the high-tech but mundane life, where food has been reduced to simple cubes, McDonald's signature offering still stands out as a delicious treat that brings people together.
