Facebook Messenger Now Allows Android Users To Text Via The App

Facebook Messenger is expanding its internal chat capabilities to allow Android smartphone users to go as far as send text message via the social media app. This allows Facebook users to stay within the app to send text messages without having to switch screens or leave the platform. The idea is to streamline all messaging outlets through Facebook Messenger for a more streamlined form of communication.

It can be frustrating to have to constantly switch between apps and chat platforms to connect with friends, family and loved ones which is why Facebook Messenger is offering a feature called the 'Default SMS App' that allows Android users to also send texts directly through Facebook Messenger. The service showcases both streams of messaging through one window in the social media for added convenience.
