Facebook users will now be able to convey their emotions in a whole new way thanks to the newly updated Facebook Reactions. Although the 'like' button has become ubiquitous with Facebook, it is fairly limited in the response it conveys. Now the platform is offering a more nuanced way for its users to interact with online posts.

As of today, users all over the world will be able to use Facebook Reactions to convey how they feel about another user's post. To use the icons, users simply hover their cursor over the existing like button. This action will bring up five different Reactions that convey emotions such as love, humor and sadness. The new icons are intended to combat the shortcomings of the existing like button and the fact that not every social post is likeable.

The new icons demonstrate an effort to personalize social interactions by providing more options for users to respond to online content.
