Robigo Bio's ARGO Platform Powers Seed Treatments

Robigo Bio is developing engineered microbial seed treatments through its ARGO platform, featuring microbes programmed to produce active bioingredients with built-in safety parameters. The company applies the strains as a one-time seed treatment designed to deliver active ingredients throughout the growing season. The microbes are selected for shelf stability and manufacturing economics.

Robigo’s approach engineers microbes rather than relying on wild-type strains, while ARGO combines strain engineering, selection and computational bioactive design. The company says the products do not require cold-chain storage and that its soybean Sudden Death Syndrome treatment is on track to match commercial synthetic chemistries at about half the cost. Its fusarium wilt treatment for lettuce and berries produced a threefold yield increase over untreated controls in early trials. For growers, the treatments are designed to fit existing workflows while simplifying storage and application. The approach reflects rising investment in biological crop protection that can compete directly with synthetic products.

Robigo’s new Series A funding supports registration and planned commercial launches in 2028 and 2029, while USDA and EPA field-trial clearance provides an early regulatory pathway for its engineered microbes.
