Air travel can be a lot of things, but an artistic experience isn't usually one of them — however, the new Delta tray tables might change that for travelers on select Delta flights. The airline recently partnered with Coca-Cola and advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy to commission art at 30,000 feet, with artists getting a unique canvas: the tray tables on the backs of seats.
Since tray tables typically offer up just blank space, they represent a simple place for airlines to add some visually interesting designs to their flights. The new Delta tray tables feature 12 images, each of which references a different city. The twelve artists behind these trays include some big names from the world of contemporary art and graphics, such as Noma Bar, Stevie Gee, Paola Gracey, Alex Yanes, and Pedro Campiche.
