System Tray is a Korean design concept that rethinks conventional airline meal trays by separating food service into modular, detachable elements. The system replaces the standard single-piece tray with a structured base that holds multiple removable containers, each intended for a specific meal component such as the main dish, sides, dessert, or bread.
This configuration allows passengers to rearrange items for comfort and access, while enabling cabin crew to serve or clear individual components without lifting the entire tray. The modules are proportioned to fit within existing airline tray table dimensions and service carts. The design focuses on improving usability in confined cabin environments where space and movement are limited. Each container is shaped to reduce spillage and stack efficiently when not in use. The modular format also supports more flexible meal pacing, as items can be removed or replaced independently.
