If a brand has been around since the 1950s, it most likely has an advertising past that would be considered problematic and dated today, and Budweiser's International Women's Day efforts highlight how far it's come as a brand by re-imaging its vintage ads to appeal to the modern woman.
These vintage advertisements were targeted at housewives and explain that women should be purchasing and serving Budweiser for their husbands. In one particular ad, a woman is seen cooking dinner, while the man has his eyes on the beer. The copy reads, "Dinner is almost ready and it sure smells good. Loosen your tie and enjoy your Budweiser." The beer brand has now updated the ad to read "It's Friday, your favorite takeout just got here. Crack open a cold bud and enjoy some time to yourself." The image has also been altered to feature a woman enjoying takeout by herself.
