The BrewDog craft brewery has announced that it has made the shift into being a carbon-negative brand and will be removing twice as much carbon from the air than it emits during its yearly operations. This comes as part of the brewery's recent commitment towards sustainability with a number of initiatives being announced in order to support this move. This includes the purchase of 2,050 acres of Scottish Highlands where the brewery will plant one million trees in the coming years, a £30 million investment in a new climate action program and more.
Co-Founder of BrewDog craft brewery James Watt commented on the announcement saying, "Our Carbon. Our Problem. So, we are going to fix it ourselves. Huge change is needed right now, and we want to be a catalyst for that change in our industry and beyond. We fully acknowledge that we are a long way from perfect. However, we are determined to rapidly and fundamentally change everything as we work hard to ensure we have a positive impact on the planet.”
