Blackburne House Empowers Females Via Tech Skills, Wellness, Entrepreneurship

Blackburne House is holistic education center for women in Liverpool that includes conference facilities, a women's health centre, nursery, spa and cafe.

"Blackburne House Group is a training led organisation, which delivers high quality training, education and consultancy services," the website explains. "Today, the organisation employs 70 staff and offers 50 different courses with 1,000 full and part time learning opportunities for women."

The organization was founded in 1983 with the intention of creating a place for women to gain technical career skills and connect them with job opportunities in the field.

They also foster the growth of new social enterprises, like Hope Street Honey, a dark honey created by the women's institute. The sales bring profits back into the educational programs at Blackburne House -- the honey is used in their cafe and also sold to other retailers -- while also benefiting the local bee population.
