At the National Restaurant Association Show this year, California-based start-up Before the Butcher unveiled its affordable new plant-based 'B4Burger.'
The burger is entirely free from GMO ingredients, gluten and any animal ingredients, yet it is said to closely mimic the look, taste and texture of real beef—so much so that Before the Butcher's Danny O’Malley says "The B4Burger will shatter your perception of plant-based burgers."
While a limited number of soy patties used to be available to vegetarian and vegan consumers in the past, a new wave of plant-based products is emerging for these consumers, as well as meat-eaters who are looking to enjoy plant-based proteins as part of an eating experience that feels familiar. Due to the affordability of the B4Burger, foodservice operators will now have access to a great source of plant-based protein.
