Atieva is Building an Electric Car to Rival Tesla

Atieva is a newcomer to the automotive industry with big plans. As its mission statement describes: "We’re redefining what a car can be by building an iconic new vehicle from the ground up."

The company was founded by a former vice president of Tesla and the creator of a networking company. So far, there have only been a few sketches of its electric car concept that indicate how Atieva plans to completely disrupt the automotive industry and take on huge competitors like Tesla. However, it is known that there are multiple parties coming together to complete this next-generation car, including Germany's Siemens, Korean battery cell maker SK Group and Italian vehicle design specialists Cecomp.

Atieva has plans to unveil its first-ever electric car design at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show in April.
