atelier.twelve's 'Apartment 2606' Features Open, Resonant Space

Apartments in high rises can sometimes suffer from limited natural light and thus stuffiness, but 'Apartment 2606', a unit recently redesigned by atelier.twelve, has features that overcome that common limitation. The apartment's new layout allows for far more natural light to enter the space, as the studio behind the project removed a closed off room in favor of allowing for the free passage of both light and sound.

According to the project brief, atelier.twelve needed to not only add natural light, but also good acoustics. The apartment is occupied by a young couple: the woman was more concerned about light, while the man is a music fan and wanted to have a space amenable to both playing and listening. Apartment 2606 thus reflects that request, opening the balcony area and allowing for more movement.
