Glassbrick Apartment by Studio Karhard Alters a Flat with Nightclub DNA

— January 23, 2026 — Art & Design
The Glassbrick Apartment by Studio Karhard is a renovated residential interior in Berlin’s Kreuzberg that translates the raw, industrial character associated with the firm’s nightclub work into a liveable home. The project reconfigures a two-room apartment into a three-room layout by stripping the interior to its core and restructuring spatial flow to accommodate separate living, sleeping and workspace zones.

At the centre of the new plan is a curved glass-brick wall that divides the entrance from the living area while preserving light and creating an ambient glow through internally integrated illumination. The apartment’s design rhythm alternates between bright, open spaces and more atmospheric, immersive zones that echo the dynamic lighting environments of club culture.

Materials are selected to balance industrial edge with domestic warmth. Terrazzo stone floors and stainless steel or untreated brass surfaces in the kitchen are tempered by lime plaster walls and tactile upholstery that soften surfaces without losing visual clarity. The powder room features a metal grid ceiling and indirect colour-adjustable lighting, reinforcing a futuristic mood within a compact volume.
