It’s not possible to travel back in time to relive the days of childhood, but these youthful ad campaigns are pretty good at making grown adults feel like young kids once again. One of the easiest and most popular ways to get grown-ups to feel like kids is to play around with scale. IKEA, Evian and McDonald’s have all experimented with this in some way or another, using oversized furniture or objects to transport adults back to a time when their legs were too short and dangled off chairs, or needed to stand on tip toes to peek over tall counters.
Although the effect of oversized furniture is a winning one, it’s not always necessary or cost-effective to have giant furniture pieces manufactured. Instead, another effective route is simply to appeal to nostalgia or the instinct to play.
