Yuzuri yuzu liqueur is the newest product from Japanese distiller Soh Spirts. Yuzuri is a fairly simple spirit and is made simply from yuzu, rice and water from Kumamoto mountain on Kyushu Japan. All the yuzu used in the product is hand-picked and juiced. The rice is locally grown in the waters of Kumamoto mountain and the sugar used in the product comes from local sugar beets and Australian sugarcane.
Yuzu has quickly become a favorite citrus among chefs and cocktailers and can be seen as a featured ingredient in many popular restaurants and bars. Described as the lovechild between grapefruit and lemon, yuzu strikes a perfect balance between sweetness and acidity. Yuzuri yuzu liqueur draws from these flavors, but also becomes something complex on its own. The nose is a combination of citrus and bamboo, and the palate is dominated by herbs and citrus. There is a slight bitterness from the yuzu peel, but in a very enjoyable way. The liqueur is easily enjoyed neat or over ice, and works wonderfully as a splash in a margarita.
