Facebook recently launched its new Watch Party feature, which lets users simultaneously watch Facebook videos together. The feature also syncs players' streams together, allowing them to comment and react while the host adds videos to the queue and controls playback options. Multiple people can even host a single Watch Party, giving both users the ability to choose videos to add.
The Watch Party feature does have a few limitations, as it can only be launched inside a Facebook Group and only Facebook-hosted videos can be added to the queue. However, Facebook is testing the Watch Party feature outside of Groups and is planning on launching it within Facebook Pages too.
The implementation of this feature could be incredibly impactful in the streaming industry, as it allows communities to interact in real-time over a shared video experience.
