There are plenty of savory vegetable pies that may be prepared without meat and a focus on plant-based ingredients instead, but the 'Vegetarian Chicken & Leek Pies' from Linda McCartney Foods aim to provide consumers with a suitable meat replacement.
The shortcrust pastry products are filled with chicken-style pieces that are made from rehydrated textured soya and wheat protein, as well as a carrot and leek sauce that is accented with the flavors of garlic, parsley, lemon zest, thyme and black pepper.
The savory, single-serve vegetarian pies can be prepared from frozen in the oven in about 30 to 40 minutes. To make the most of the pastry crust, Linda McCartney Foods suggests that consumers "brush with egg or milk" before baking.
