As commuting via bicycle is consistently becoming more popular, the need for more bike posts has become rampant; however, Japan may have come up with the solution for proper valet bike storage.
This underground pseudo valet system allows riders to store their bikes underground and then be able to retrieve them at the end of their day. This system is called the ‘Bike Lobby’ and it is created from the mind of Dorothy Rabinowitz. In order to make this system work, the riders would have a chip on their front wheel that would let the system know they have an account. Then, their bike would be safely tucked away underground until they come to retrieve it. This entire transfer of leaving or picking up your bike only takes 14 seconds. This valet bike storage system is a solution to over-crowding, and bike riders will feel better knowing their transportation is safe.
