The Japanese concept of Wabi Sabi is at the center of 78stitches' upcycled unisex fashion collection. The limited-edition 'Collection 1' includes just seven pieces, shirts and trousers for men and women that are "focused mostly on the acceptance of transience and imperfection" and an "aesthetic of simplicity, asymmetry, roughness, and modesty."

The standout features of the garments include pieces of fabrics that have been sustainably sourced as discards from different mills and factories, each with its own unique origin story to tell.

From fashion to food, a number of brands are building niches for themselves by putting sustainability first, making it their mission to reuse or repurpose as many materials as possible that are otherwise destined to go to waste.
