If you like UFOs and you like architecture, then you'll love the design for The Art Museum Strongoli. This out-of-this-world building will be constructed on top of the Motta Grande, overlooking the city of Calabria, Italy.

The work was the vision of the Austrian firm Coop Himmelb(l)au.

Implications - Architects continually push design boundaries to create landmark edifices, especially for public buildings. From the Louvre to MoMA, museums are among the most instantly recognizable architectural wonders in any city. Inspired by the recession and dismal economy, many designers chose to play on apocalyptic themes of doom, chaos and the unknown to add visual interest and make their mark on the local community.
