Instagram-friendly homes have been an important driver within the mini-economy that is Airbnb, and the platform's new 'Travel Stories' feature shows that it isn't ignorant toward the developments taking place among its users. Travel Stories allow Airbnb guests to create short videos that document the highlights of their trip with mechanics that are similar to Snapchat and Instagram's comparable story-creation tools.
Though Airbnb certainly isn't looking to compete with the aforementioned social networks -- and indeed would be foolish if it were -- Travel Stories provide an authentic way for the platform to demonstrate the adventures that are ready to be undertaken around the world. Airbnb is effectively a travel app, and Travel Stories thus makes the thrill of decamping for a new land all the more tangible and exciting for users.
