Google Maps Created Transit Alerts Featuring COVID-19 Travel Changes

Google Maps recently added a number of new features, including transit alerts, that will help users navigate their environment in a post COVID-19 world. Transit alerts will inform users about how travel may be restricted due to COVID-19 checkpoints. COVID-19 checkpoints are being created around international borders, and Google Maps will first display checkpoints in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

The new features will be rolling out to users in Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, France, India, Mexico, the United States, and more.

Additionally, the app can inform users about how populated public transit will be. Alerts can also be sent from transit systems, where users can see any government mandates on travel.
