Tracking Device Safety Implementations

Google is Rolling Out Anti-Stalking Measures to Trackers

Google is beginning to roll out anti-stalking measures to keep users safe using unknown tracker alerts. It was announced earlier this year in May during Google I/O and will be appearing on Android 6.0 devices and up starting today. This is done to reduce digital stalking and does so with unknown tracker alerts.

Users will get an alert if there is an unknown Bluetooth tracker traveling with them. If there is a notification of such, users are able to tap on the alert to learn more about the device. It will include information such as a map of where the device traveled with them and sometimes a serial number and information about the device. It will also have the option to "play sound" to make the accessory chirp.
