Illuminous Climate Statements

Tierra is an Artistic Project by SpY in the Streets of Madrid

Tierra is a caged illuminated sphere that decorates the streets of Madrid. Urban artist SpY presented the Spanish art installation. It is made up of a luminous red sphere caged in a cubed structure. To provide a powerful visual statement, the installation stands roughly 25 meters tall.

Tierra is a red sphere caged in a scaffolding structure. The sphere casts a bright red light on its surroundings while also generating heat. The artist aims to encourage public viewers to reflect on our planet as an entity in which we are part of and where everything is connected through the fact of life—moreover, the piece comments on the destructive human activity that contributes to climate change.
