The Water Planet, the centerpiece of the Steinhart Aquarium in San Francisco, appropriately looks like it is undersea. A haven for fish and mermaids alike, this educational exhibition will delight both children and adults as it indulges their sense of adventure and imagination.
Designed by Urban A&O, The Water Planet boasts 3D rippling fluid walls, created using CATIA-based parametric modeling software, that mimic the currents of the underwater world. The darkened area is dramatically lit by blue and green lighting, which helps to accentuate the fantastical feeling that visitors are actually perusing a subaquatic space.
Showcasing living animals and powerful multimedia, The Water Planet provides an encompassing view of the link between water and life that makes this planet unique.
