The Wanlass Center for Art Education and Research is opening its doors on April 29, and it's set to transform how art is experienced at Utah State University and beyond. Designed by Sparano + Mooney Architecture, the Wanlass Center is a next-generation hub for education, research, and community engagement rooted in NEHMA’s acclaimed collection of modern and contemporary American art.
This 10,000-square-foot facility brings students, scholars, and the public closer to art through visible storage, flexible display spaces, and interactive learning environments. From a high-tech Art Study Room and Research Library to a thoughtfully designed classroom for K–12 programs, every corner invites personalized exploration and hands-on engagement.
Beyond function, the Wanlass Center is a design statement. With colorful cladding and dynamic louvers inspired by the artwork it houses, the building stands as a bold new landmark on campus. Backed by generous donors and a clear vision, the Wanlass Center positions NEHMA as a leader in 21st-century museum education.
