The Passenger is a retro restaurant in Madrid’s Malasaña district that resembles the interior of a classy train cabin reminiscent of time at the turn of the century.
Diners will feel captivated by The Passenger’s gorgeous interior. Bulky leather armchairs replace conventional seats, while dark wood and brass run up and down the establishment. The vintage train motif will give diners a sense of the lavish lives of businessmen, politicians and VIPs during the height of industrialization when long periods of train travel was the norm.
The Passenger seats 150 patrons and serves as a coffee bar during the day and a pub at night. To complete the locomotive look, The Passenger features three large video screens “windows” that play a programmed video stream that flows from one window to the next, creating the illusion that The Passenger is indeed a moving train cabin on a journey through the countryside. Real train footage was recorded for the stream and real train noises complete the ruse.
