The Ambulantito is the brainchild of Natura Futura Arquitectura, an architecture and design company based in Babahoyo, Ecuador. The architectural firm is committed to finding new solutions for unhoused individuals in the community. The Ambulantito is a mobile kiosk and a stationary shelter all in one.
With an A-frame structure, the shelter provides privacy and a canopy for unhoused individuals, and a refuge from the weather. Complete with wheels, individuals can use the traveling kiosk to sell goods, thereby generating an income. The simple and protective design is built from welded metal rods, overlaid with locally sourced timber panels. Moreover, The Ambulantito includes s storage shelf where goods and personal items may be placed. In addition, the structure can be transformed into a mobile safebox due to its folding lattice doors.
