Cascading Cylindrical Towers

The Swiss Studio Designed a Skyscraper Inspired by Organized Chaos

For an upcoming project for the Canary Wharf Development in London, Swiss studio Herzog & De Meuron has created and submitted Phase One of the urban development project. The master plan features a multi-story cylindrical tower that has its apartments highlighted by overlaying them in an organized chaos. The skyscraping residential tower will be one of the five buildings that is proposed to be developed in the Canary Wharf Development.

Working in conjunction with London-based design studio Stanton Williams, the Swiss design studio has proposed to provide 884 homes to the neighborhood, while another design firm Allies and Morrison designs two office blocks catering to technology, creative media and telecommunication-based companies.

The entire project named ‘Mixed-Use Development,’ upon completion, will provide over 3,000 units for residential purposes and 240,000 square meters of commercial office space.
