One of the best street parties in all of Eurpoe happen in Portugal and it is called the S. Joao, and the street party installation that accompanied the festival is definitely something to remember.
This party is held to celebrate St. Jean the Baptist, and the festivities usually include hitting each other with garlic flowers and also sometimes plastic hammers. However, the street party installation was a remarkable site during this event. The balloons covered the sky, blocking out everything above viewers and reflecting everything below them. Flowing in the breeze, these S. Joao structure was built with a community effort by the FAHR 021.3 architects, and it is a stunning piece to look at. Metallic-like balloon shapes created an incredible spectacle.
This festival was also in conjunction with a design event, proving that both parties and fantastic aesthetics can come together as one.
