Steel Ball Art Installations

This Artist Created a Steel Art Installation Inspired by Narcissus

Known for creating her art with thousands and thousands of dots, Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama has created a new steel art installation.

The steel art installation is titled 'Narcissus Garden,' inspired by Narcissus in Greek mythology. Narcissus was self-obsessed and when he saw his own reflection in a pond, he fell in love with it not realizing it was him. This appropriately entitled art installation is featured near the Glass House, owned by an architect. Outside the pond there are two signs, one of which says "your narcissism for sale." The Japanese artist sells the steel spheres for $2 each to visitors.

The artist's famous dot technique is inspired by "infinity, self-image and compulsive repetition" and the Narcissus Garden is certainly a reflection of her work.
