Reflecting Diverseness is an installation by Studio mo man tai that turns demographic data of the Netherlands into a luminous field of more than 8,800 handmade flowers, each crafted from recycled acrylic mirror fragments. The flowers are arranged according to representation statistics: different flower types correspond to various population groups, blending into a unified mosaic that reveals social diversity through visual form. The work uses cast-off materials and careful mirror-cutting to give waste a new aesthetic and symbolic purpose.
The installation invites viewers to move through shifting reflections and fragmented light, prompting awareness of cultural variety and demographic complexity. Its design frames collective identity as a composition of individual elements rather than uniform groups. By combining up-cycled materials with conceptual mapping, the project draws attention to representation, inclusion, and the materials of modern life.
