The Arcipelago Botanico transforms the central courtyard of Portrait Milano into a temporary landscape of monumental sculptures inspired by the former Archiepiscopal Seminary's historic gardens. Italian artist Agostino Iacurci created the installation with landscape contributions from botanist Vittorio Peretto, while curator Valentina Ciarallo organized the project. Eight oversized botanical forms stand throughout the 16th-century piazza, where simplified shapes reinterpret vegetation that once occupied the site. Handcrafted sculptures rise from geometric plinths, creating a structured arrangement that complements the surrounding arcaded architecture.
The installation remains on view through August 31, 2026, as part of the hotel's "Portraits of an Italian Summer" program in Milan. Saturated shades of fuchsia, magenta, orange, green, and purple distinguish each sculptural form within the courtyard. The exhibition treats memory as a design element by interpreting the site's former landscape instead of reconstructing it.

- Site-specific Hotel Art
- Hospitality venues can differentiate guest experiences through temporary installations that turn architectural courtyards and shared spaces into cultural destinations.
- Oversized Nature Forms
- Monumental plant-inspired objects signal opportunities for immersive public art that uses scale, color, and simplified organic shapes to reshape urban engagement.
Industries Being Reshaped
- Hospitality
- Luxury hotels are increasingly positioned as cultural platforms where art programming enhances brand identity and extends the value of guest amenities.
- Public Art
- Temporary sculpture installations offer new models for activating historic spaces while balancing preservation, interpretation, and contemporary visual impact.
