Macy’s is now using high-tech gadgets to upgrade its standard fitting rooms. For many retailers, dressing rooms are the one advantage they still have over online shopping. In order to compete with online retailers such as Amazon, Macy's is turning to new technology to improve the fitting room experience.

As part of its effort to enhance the in-store shopping experience, Macy's revamped the standard fitting rooms in its Manhattan Beach, California, store. The new dressing rooms feature company-provided tablets that allow customers to request different items. The tablets allow customers to try on additional sizes without having to leave the fitting room or ask a sales clerk for assistance. The idea is to make the fitting room experience more efficient by reducing the amount of time customers spend browsing or getting redressed.
