Piquant Cricket Chips

These Spicy Chips from Bitty Foods Blend Lentils and Cricket Flour

'Chiridos' is the name of a line of spicy chips from Bitty Foods that puts an innovative new spin on a traditional Mexican snack. Chapulines, or grasshoppers, are commonly eaten in certain areas of Mexico. Chiridos twist this idea by reinventing the snack into protein-packed chips made with lentils and cricket flour.

The three savory flavors available include Baja Ranchero, Salsa Verde and Spicy Mole and each type boasts about three times the protein content of ordinary snack chips. At the 2016 Natural Products Expo West, the Bitty Foods Chiridos Cricket Flour Snack Chips were named a finalist in the Best New Snack or Convenience Food category.

In addition to making these savory-spicy chips, Bitty Foods also creates cocoa chai, chocolate chip and orange ginger cookies using a base of cricket flour.
