As part of its ONE FOR BILLION initiative, WeChat teamed up with BHV Marais for the creation of a smart department store solution and with it, a pop-up store to celebrate the Chinese New Year in Paris. This program from WeChat is all about helping European businesses connect with Chinese tourists through the popular social network and mobile payment platform. Notably, WeChat sets merchants up with a way for customers to easily pay, as well as receive communication and service over the long term.
According to Freedom Li, President of WeChat Pay International Business, "Many Chinese people have now long been accustomed to going out without their wallet," making it imperative for cross-border businesses to offer convenient alternative payment systems when targeting consumers visiting from other countries.
