Tape-Wrapped Interiors

‘Rotemartha' by Martin Pfeifle Binds an Abbey in Bold Color

The whitewashed abbey of Aachen-Kornelimunster has been bound in long strips of fuchsia film in an installation called ‘Rotemartha’ by Martin Pfeifle from Germany. Magenta, pink, purple and red ribbons have been fastened together to create thick bands of color enveloping the interior space.

The entire first floor of the once religious structure has been tightly wrapped in fabulous film strips. Visitors are invited to walk through the spaces of ‘Rotemartha’ by Martin Pfeifle to experience the contrast between a contemporary installation juxtaposed with such traditional surroundings.
