Hem introduces the new 'Rope Rug' by French designer Pauline Deltour -- she makes intricate use of traditional weaving methods using rope. She recently worked in collaboration with Hem on a series of accessories but the new rug is a joint effort in fusing contemporary elements to traditional processes.
The Rope Rug is produced in India, made using three different rope sizes, braiding them all together. This results in a sturdy structure that features a vertically informed thread that comes in four colorway options in total. The studio dyed the cotton and made the ropes, which also makes them rope producers. Deltour was inspired by her visit to Paris, noticing the vast variety of ropes and gathered them for design experimentation.
