Air quality in urban locations has become something of a hot-button issue given the rising level of pollution in the majority of cities around the world, so the 'Pure City' monitors are intended to help businesses curb emissions. The air quality monitors work by being implemented into an urban environment on a network basis in various parts of the city to let users get real-time updates on how high the pollution level is. This lets them patronize areas that have better ratings over others to encourage business owners to help improve air quality to incite more foot traffic.

The 'Pure City' air quality monitor system is the design work of Fynn Eckstein and identifies an upstream approach to decreasing pollution in urban environments.
